Ice cold and naturally sweet, this Healthy Vegan Chocolate Shake is a guilt-free treat with simple, clean ingredients. Almond butter, cocoa powder, banana, chia seeds and dates blended to icy cold deliciousness!

Before we dig into this chocolate shake, I wanted to tell you guys about my love for the stainless steel straw. I’ve been using these stainless steel straws since I received them last year as a birthday gift. The best part about them, besides the fact that they are a reusable + sustainable option, is that the metal gets icy cold from your beverage while you drink – acting like an ice cube!

Iced coffees, smoothies and milkshakes are delivered extra cold directly to your mouth! My husband thinks I’m nutty, but it really makes a difference!

It’s worth making the switch folks. For the sake of the earth and your coldest beverages!

Why use Stainless Steel Straws?

  1. Less plastic waste in landfills and less environmental pollution from plastic production. Americans use a boatload of drinking straws every year.
  2. They contribute to the cold-ness of your beverages!
  3. You’ll never be straw-less again! Drop a few in the bottom of your bag – no excuses!
  4. It’s one small contribution that will make you feel good! They’re a perfect investment to celebrate Earth Day.

How to make this Vegan Chocolate Shake

I like to think of this Vegan Chocolate Shake as a vegan frosty. It’s not overwhelmingly sweet, it’s smooth and cold, and it might give you a brain freeze. All the things you want in a milkshake, right?

With about 300 calories in this shake, it will fill you up, but with REAL nutritious ingredients, not sugar. If you want to add more chocolate flavor without calories, I suggest using chocolate extract.

Ingredients
  • 1 small banana
  • 2 small pitted dates
  • 1 Tbsp almond butter
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk
  • 2 tsp chia seeds
  • 1 tsp cocoa powder
  • 1/2 tsp almond or chocolate extract
  • 12 ice cubes (I use the long narrow ones about 1.5 cups)
Instructions
  1. Place all ingredients in a high speed blender.

  2. Blend until completely smooth. Enjoy!
