The seasonings in this recipe have pop. They’re smoky and savory and just everything you want to wrap up in a warm tortilla.
One of my favorite seasonings is Mexican oregano. It’s one of those must have pantry staples if you love tacos, fajitas, it pretty much just makes anything and everything with a Mexican flavor profile taste amazing.
Health Benefits of Herbs + Spices
I just finished reading a book by Dr. Uma Naidoo, director of nutritional and lifestyle psychiatry at Massachusetts General Hospital, called “This is Your Brain on Food” which takes a deep dive into the gut-brain connection and how what we eat influences how our brain feels! Lots of herbs and spices were consistently referenced and anti-inflammatory and great to alleviate depression and anxiety and even just the simple ailments like brain fog. Mexican oregano is one of those power spices!
You can listen to this interview with Dr. Naidoo to start to understanding the gut-brain connection and insights into how you can make small changes with big impact.
