The island of Mykonos Greece has a vibrant energy. By day, Mykonos is the perfect place to bask in the sun on gorgeous beaches or stroll the cobblestone walkways through the whitewashed buildings of Mykonos town. By night, it’s teeming with nightlife.
Where to stay in Mykonos
We stayed just a short 5-min shuttle ride from town at the Mykonos Bay Hotel. While our room didn’t have a sea view, this was our breakfast view and it was just perfect.
The breakfast buffet alone could convince me to stay here another week. Greek frappé, donuts, Greek omelettes, creamy yogurt parfaits…so good.
We spent most of the day lounging by the pool, but managed to spend a few hours exploring the windmills and shops in town.
Mykonos town (Chora) is charming no matter which way you turn. The winding cobblestone paths will take you past cafés, boutiques and churches. It’s a great place to get lost. I bought the prettiest rose gold necklace with the Greek eye symbol – it was my only non-food purchase in Greece!
Mykonos Restaurants
We stopped at a few coffee/dessert shops because being a tourist causes raging hunger about every 2 hours.
With only about 36 hours in Mykonos, our dining opportunities were limited.
For lunch we dined at D’Angelo Restaurante. It was a nice break from souvlaki!
Gelato at Ninnolo was a must. The staff even posed for a little photo! Of course we went back the next day for more. This IS vacation.
Watching the sun set in Mykonos is spectacular. Pick a restaurant with a view and enjoy it. As soon as the sun sets, Mykonos town becomes a crowded bar scene!
When comparing Mykonos to Naxos, I prefer Naxos for its beaches and chill vibe. Naxos is much more affordable too. Although nothing beats the charm of Mykonos town. If I had the chance to go back, I’d take a tour of all the beaches!
