Simple Homemade Tomato Sauce

This simple tomato sauce gets it's deep flavor from plenty of garlic and using San Marzano tomatoes. It's my go to for pasta, pizza, and anytime I need a red sauce for dipping!

  1. Heat olive oil over medium-low heat.
  2. Add chopped garlic and sauté until soft and fragrants. About 2 minutes. Do not let the garlic brown.
  3. Add can of tomatoes and 1/2 tsp Kosher salt.
  4. Simmer on medium/medium low until tomatoes are starting to break down and crush easily with the back of a wooden spoon. About 15 minutes.
  5. Add dried basil.
  6. Taste and season with remaining 1/4 tsp Kosher salt + a few grinds of pepper.
